Dallas, TX | October 30, 2009: Next week kicks off the launch of November Safety Month for AWTI 3rd Eye MobileVision™. The campaign, to launch on Monday, will bring awareness to reverse and backover accidents, which are considered fatal and preventable.
According to the National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse (NWZSIC), the leading cause of fatalities for workers in work zones is being run or backed over by vehicles (“backover accident”). Road workers and moving persons behind moving vehicles fall victim to blind spots by larger vehicles, killing at least one person a month in a backover accident that is “completely preventable”, NWZSIC reports.
AWTI 3rd Eye MobileVision™, the maker of heavy-duty (HD) safety camera systems provides one of the best methods for decreasing preventable backover accidents in the workplace. 3rd Eye MobileVision™ provides more than rear vision perspective in workplace conditions by providing 360-degree, total vision around a moving vehicle.
In a study produced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (RI 9660), tests proved that camera systems were “more useful” than beeping radar because “an actual view of the area behind the truck is preferred over just an alarm”.
This month 3rd Eye MobileVision™ will be teaming up with the family of Rober Augeri in their efforts to pass “Rob’s Law”. Augeri, who was killed on his 31st birthday, was involved in a backover accident while working his construction job. Since his accidental death in 2008, the Augeri family has advocated making workzones and jobsites safer.
“Truckers often backup [their] equipment,” says mother Janet Augeri. “They believe people will hear them and move out of the way. Too often they are not heard,” she says. “More needs to be done to alert drivers of equipment with substantial blind spots. So they can see workers, police officers, children, firefighters or pedestrians on the ground around and behind them.”
Through the month of November, 3rd Eye MobileVision™ will offer discounted packages on reverse safety technology (RST) systems for those customers mentioning “Rob’s Law” and will offer a portion of sales to Augeri family efforts.

About “Rob’s Law”
Robert Augeri was killed while working on a construction job on his 31st birthday. Robert picked up a paving job contracted from the Massachusetts Highway Department when he was involved in a backover accident that could have been prevented.
Survived by his parents, Chris and Janet and his wife Kim, along with his children, Robert’s family is campaigning for safer rules in the workplace by telling Rob’s story with their efforts behind legislation. The new law, dubbed “Rob’s Law” would require trucks to be outfitted with safety technology that gives drivers and machine operators viewing capacity over blind spots.
The family hosts an information website listed below and is working to gain signatures for their campaign.
